In June, during our family reunion we "bought" some time share days from my brother, Ian. We decided to use them over this vacation, since Travis had taken a bunch of time off. We decided to go to Bass Lake which is about 45 minutes away (about 15 minutes from Yosemite National Park). We thought we could go sledding, build snowmen, and drink a lot of hot cocoa. Besides, just being at a fun "hotel" as a change of scenery is good.

The setup was great, with two bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs and a kitchen, dining room, living room, bathroom downstairs. After getting settled we went exploring. There wasn't a lot of snow. In fact, not much at all. We could have gotten to some with a little traveling but considering our vehicle, not wanting to get stuck, and not wanting the kids to get carsick we just found a spot nearby.

Truly there was more mud than snow, but it didn't slow the kids down. We went sledding for over an hour each day we were there. The kids had so much fun. We celebrated Lydia's birthday while we were there. We went for pizza, then went sledding.

Zoe was quite a pro. She would run and jump onto the sled on her stomach. She did not want to stop.

The second day of sledding we actually took snow from one place and tried to build up our track a bit. It worked great!

We also spent time indoors drinking cocoa, playing games, playing with toys and watching T.V.

It was actually quite warm. We had shed all our coats, gloves, and hats by the time we headed back.

New Years Eve we had tortilla soup, nuggets, cranberry juice with Sprite and brownies. The kids got to stay up late (8:30). Then Travis and I watched Dog, The Bounty Hunter until 11:00 then went to bed. How old are we?
One highlight of the night was seeing the stars. I have rarely seen such a beautiful sky. It reminded me of summer nights in Rexburg, growing up. But, it could've been more beautiful than that.

Thanks for the opportunity Ian and Sarah. It really made our vacation!

What a great vacation! This is one of those memeory builders. Pictures are so fun. Everyone has a smile in every picture. Fantastic moments.
How fun! A needed break for the whole family. I'm sure your kids will talk about this trip for awhile!
Word! I wish we could have been there with you...videos, a Schimmel, meatsicles. Maybe next year!
Looks like it was great! Looks like a great place to stay too, how fun - you have to love those little getaways.
Man, now I wish we had bought that time share and given you the bone picture. Sounds like a ton of fun!
we tried to go n a sledding adventure last week to ring in the New Year but they have gone and commercialized all the good hills. I tried to explain to Elliott that I couldn't get on a tube and sled and pay to use a hill because it would never live up to he radio flyer down the streets of Rexburg. The safety of a controlled environment took all the fin out of it.
Good times.
