Nicest things #2

Having had a very hurtful conversation with a close friend and not knowing how to remedy the situation as she was refusing to talk to me, I turned to another friend. This was a girl I hadn't known very long. As I went over all of the details of the argument, she listened. She gave good advice. She let me get mad and emotional.
Later that night, she called and told me not to make dinner. She sent over some pizzas. Not only was she a listening ear when I needed it, she anticipated my not wanting to make dinner that night.
So sweet.

Nicest things #1

I was thinking today about some of the nice (super nice) things that people have done for me. I thought of several, instantly and thought I wanted to share some of them.
I will just share one short experience each time. Some of them are small gestures, but in the moment meant so much!
The first thing I thought of was something that happened a long time ago. When I was in seventh grade, maybe a bit later. Our family's computer was in the basement and it was late at night (midnight or later) and I was typing a paper (due the next day). I don't remember if there was a power outage, or if the computer crashed, but somehow I lost my paper. I was exhausted physically and emotionally and started to sob.
The basement also housed two bedrooms where my sister and brother slept. I guess my crying woke up my sister, Andrea, who came out to see what was going on. She is a nurse and was working long hours and also had a commute. She had worked late and probably hadn't been in bed for very long.
Well, you may have guessed that she offered to type my paper. To stay up for several more hours to complete my assignment that I had procrastinated. I don't think I argued with her. I just went to bed, thankful that I didn't have to continue typing. In the morning my paper was all ready to be turned in.
