Eat humble pie

I was given a bunch of peaches (Thanks, Tay!). After peeling, slicing and freezing two gallon-sized ziplock bags full of peaches I had to figure out what to do with the remainder of the peaches. I have never made a peach pie. It seems an inferior way to use peaches, cooking them. But I don't think there are many more beautiful sights than a fresh baked pie (or better smell for that matter).
This beautiful sight is peach syrup. Our Turley family lore says that Travis decided to marry me after he had tasted my grandmothers homemade peach syrup. He may also have been bribed to marry me, with promise of more peach syrup to follow. He should be happy now, because I have learned to make it, so he will never have to go without.
I'm not sure why it turned out this color (I love it, though). The peaches were definitely more pink than orange. We had this syrup for breakfast on homemade whole wheat waffles with cut up peaches. Yum.

I'm calling you tomorrow. We just bought a 25 lb box of local peaches which are SO GOOD and we plan to can, make jam and syrup this weekend. (Not more than 5 minutes ago, Todd said, "Will you call Nana tomorrow and find out how to make peach syrup?")

Your pies look DIVINE. Wanna come over for dinner? You bring dessert.
