Top ten favorites from our trip: #2-4

Because I neglected to bring my camera battery recharger my camera died not even halfway through the trip. This is a huge disappointment. I feel I need to document these kinds of things. Not just to add visual interest to the blog, but to later PROVE to my kids that we did fun things while they were growing up.
There were a couple amazing things that didn't get documented with pictures that were some favorites of the trip.
#2 Seeing friends. It was such good timing to be in Rexburg when we were. I got to see some dear friends: Amy Ferguson Hackworth, Jill Huskinson Shirley, Julia Griffin Barker, Janeese Mangum Summers, also I briefly saw Mark Parson and his super cute wife and catch up with them for a bit. I got to spend an afternoon with Peter and Christy Leman who are so great! It is just a pleasure to be able to pick up right where you left off, after not seeing someone for years. I consider that a testament of great friends! Definitely a highlight for me.
#3 I took the kiddos up to see Lincoln Elemenary School, where I attended K-5th grades. It was fun for me to show them, but was a HIT because of the new play equiptment they have recently installed.
#4 One morning we decided to head to Hidden Lakes (also known as Egin Lakes). We had been out with the two older kids years ago and decided to give it a try. My mom came and helped, since Travis was already home at this point. If you are unfamiliar with Hidden Lakes it is a large body of water that at its deepest is probably 2 1/2 feet deep. It is surrounded by sand dunes, so it is similar to a big beach. Because of the shallowness of the water it is very mellow. I even felt fine about letting Felix wade in (okay, he had my hand almost the entire time anyway). The other kids had an ultimate blast. Building sand food, looking for pollywogs, examining different water plants growing there, and just splashing around.
At one point Zoe was making a lattice top pie, so she went to go find some pebbles to be the cherries in her pie. She found some round 'pebbles' that she was using for this purpose. When she said, "Mom, you should feel these rocks, they are really light and smooshy". Well, needless to say, they weren't pebbles, and evidently there is wildlife around Hidden Lakes. When we informed her what they really were, they all thought it was hilarious!
One of those days that you would love to relive because it was so perfect.
