After my run down to "my" beach Kai'a and I got started making a little robot that we had found in my Family Fun magazine. Made of a painted toilet paper roll. While the paint was drying we headed to a new beach.
We headed to a nearby beach where there were little tide pools where we went looking for crabs, sea slugs, and sea shells. Kate, sea gazing.
I thought it was funny that this shell matched my nails. As I am looking at this picture it looks like a toe, nope, it is my thumb.
Not pictured (why the heck didn't we take any pictures of Pai'a, Kate??): Kate and I ran into the little town of Pai'a. Such a cute little hippy, tourist town. Lots of super cute, expensive shops and restaurants. We went to get lunch. Kate had been talking about the Duck Fajitas since I got there. Well, they were amazing. Tasted more like pork than poultry, to me. The duck meat was shredded then cooked (with lots of sugar, I'm assuming) so it had a crunchy top on it. Served with local goat cheese (probably from the Surfing Goat Dairy). Yum!
Looked into a couple shops, then stopped for Gelato. We tasted about ten different kinds and I settled on Kate's favorite. I couldn't resist getting the Liliqoi Quark. Liliqoi (yellow passion fruit) and quark (another name for fresh goat cheese) in Gelato form. It was so different and delightful. The goat cheese was just a slight aftertaste. Delicious!
In the afternoon, Kate, Finley, and I headed to Wailea to the Grand Wailea Hotel. It was phenomenally Grand. We sat on the beach. I read my book and played in the ocean. We didn't stay too long, but it was delightful. Perfect weather this day.
When I showed the above picture to Travis he pulled out his tennis magazine and showed me an almost identical picture naming the Grand Wailea as one of the top five best tennis resorts in the world. It may have been the only time he sounded jealous (I didn't even see the tennis courts, though).
We had a quiet night at home.
