Family Reunion #4-Taste Test

Growing up in a little town that is under 4 feet of snow 8 months of the year, you have to get really creative to ward off boredom. We made up all sorts of games over the years to keep us amused. One such game is Taste Test. Played pretty casually in the kitchen, it can get rather nasty. The rules depended on who you were playing with, and how daring you wanted to be. It usually went something like this: One player would be blindfolded and the other player would scour the cabinets and refrigerator trying to find a food item to be fed to player 1. A teaspoon or so would be fed to player 1 by player 2. Player 1 then tries to correctly identify the ingredient. You didn't want to be too mean starting out, because then it would be your turn to be blindfolded and fed. Some things I remember being fed include: cocoa powder, soy sauce, relish, and thousand island dressing. It is funny how your mind tricks you. Say you are expecting something hard, dry, and warm. If you get something cold and slimy it really is hard to not spit it out.
One of the activities we did during the reunion was a Taste Test Tournament. There was a amateur bracket and then an advanced bracket. It was really hilarious to watch the kids play. I was astounded that my little picky eater, Liam made it to the final. Of course they were pretty kind about feeding him the 2 things he eats on a daily basis: ketchup and peanut butter. Seth won the final with lemon juice.
Will and I made it to the advanced final. I do have to say that the beef bouillon granules were low. Will beat me by accurately identifying the combo bacon and pear baby food. I couldn't get past the texture combination.

I'm actually not too sad that I missed that one.

Hilarious!

to answer your question on my blog, the photos are good quality. I really do love the book. The program just slowed down my computer big time.
