My birthday

As an adult, birthdays are definitely lacking. I think the main reason is that your day is made up of all the duties it usually is. Even if you have something fun planned you still have to do all the things you usually do. Namely: making meals, feeding the kids, dressing kids, changing diapers, doing dishes, deflecting fights, running errands, you get the idea. (Disclaimer: I love my job of being a mom and wouldn't trade it for anything. I am merely stating why an adults birthday doesn't feel like a birthday.)

So, when I found myself sitting on the couch watching my mother make a lasagna (my special birthday request), my mother-in-law doing dishes, the kids playing a game with their grandpa's, and Travis changing Felix's diaper-I felt truly spoiled! THAT is what a birthday should consist of. I had an amazing birthday!

We had a slow, fun morning, just hanging out, and visiting. Then we went to church, to our ward for the last time. My mom and dad took Lydia home (she had been very sick this week). My mom read books with her, and dad had a tea party with her...so sweet. After our delicious lasagna dinner (prepared and cleaned up by my mothers!) Clevelands came over to have cake. Kristie made me an Apple Cider Pudding Cake that was so fabulous!

When Travis asked me if I had a good birthday, I said, I got what I always want: to be surrounded by people that I love, that love me, spending quality time :) Thanks, everyone!
