Liam's party

I love planning parties. I mentioned in a previous post how excited I was about Liam's birthday. Really, I was excited about his party. Typically I plan way more than I can execute and wind up really stressing myself out.
I did pretty good this year. I did most of the prep the week before, so that I wasn't scrambling the morning of.
I like small birthday parties for my kids. Liam had three friends attend. It makes it more about the birthday child and less about entertaining the masses.

He also let his sisters tag along.
I had a lot planned. I went into detail about games, etc. on my other blog. We picked out wands, made potions, dared each other to eat Bertie Botts Every Flavor beans, had cake, opened presents, went on a treasure hunt, and smashed a pinata.

Casting spells on their potions, with their newly acquired wands.

That potion looks pretty gross. Appropriate face, Liam.
I always wonder if the time and effort I put in is for me or for the kids. Do they really know or care how much time and energy I spent on this party? Was it worth it? I really think they all had a lot of fun. One of my friends told me later in the day how her son had come home and couldn't stop talking about the party...that makes it totally worth it: to know they had fun.

Fabulous! Think of the parties we could plan together...blasted distance!

Well done Mom:) I like your idea of a small party. It makes a lot of sense. Cool cake. Planning-what a great talent you have.
