We ran to Costco the other day. While I loaded the car, Lydia got in the car. Somehow I locked her, my keys, and my cell phone in the car. I started explaining to her how to unlock the door, trying not to get panic-y. First I tried to get her to unlock it manually, but that set off the alarm (and really freaked her out). We tried a couple other things before I told her to grab my keys and open it with that little button. She got in unlocked and was so proud. The rest of the day she kept hugging me and saying, "I was so worried about you, Mommy!" It was quite an adventure.
On an unrelated note, she LOVES playing catch with Daddy. She will play basketball, football, or baseball with him. She's got a little arm on her, too.
I love that she pronounces "girl" and "school" the same: "ghoul"
Zoe still goes outside for hours and plays with her imagination. I am not even really sure what she is doing, talking to the fence, dancing around, and picking flowers, but I LOVE to see her so carefree and imaginative.
She was beyond excited to have her friend spend the night on Friday. We watched our friends kids while they were out of town, and the kids had so much fun. Zoe was giggling until 12:30 a.m.
Liam came in the other morning and said, "Mom, I want to have glasses." I explained to him why people wore glasses and asked him why he wanted them. He explained, "I want to be a scientist when I grow up and all scientists wear glasses."
He wanted to know more about scientists so I explained about science experiments. We decided to do one. We wrote down our experiment, our hypothesis, and our results (what is this called again?) I decided to do the cornstarch and water one. It was so funny! Neither Lydia or Liam would touch the "goo". They thought it was so gross. Once I got Liam to touch it he asked if he could wash his hands. Eventually they got into it and had fun playing with it.
Let me know if you know some other good experiments.

Max totally locked me out of the house the other day and I had to walk him through unlocking the front door- not a very happy mommy! Have you ever tried the raisins in Sprite experiment? That's a fun and easy one.
Your kids sound like they would get along so well with mine. :) Such fun stages. I try to live up every minute because I am starting to get a teeny glipse of what my mom meant when she would say that we grew up way too fast.
(We like the baking soda and vinegar "volcano" experiment)
Thanks, Melissa, for all the fun pictures. Haven't had a chance to view for a few days!. So fun and what a great way to build memories. The "Sweeties" have all grown sooo much. It shocks me. Time is getting away from us. Enjoy every moment. It a sweet time in your life.
Our boys loved the experiment where you put water in a glass (1/4- 1/3 c?). Add oil and watch the water rise, then add honey and watch it sink. You get three pretty distinct layers. (It's good to color the water so you can see the difference even better). Then find small objects around the house or outside to put in the glass and predict what layer they will float on. They had so much fun!
The outcome of an experiment is called the result (pretty technical, huh?) :0)
